Founding YVE Ent in 2010, Creative Director Yve Baya has always made space for multicultural perspectives when it comes to storytelling.
“The world has so many perspectives and it would be such a shame not to explore that and tell those stories,” he explains. We need to let people know that there are stories out there that you’ve never heard that others can relate to.”
Born in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo, he and his family fled the country when he was three to live in Germany. When he was ten, they moved to the Netherlands eventually settling in Amsterdam.
“My upbringing is proof that there are many levels to this thing called life and I always carry that with me. Growing up, I thought all the things that happened to me were bad but as I’ve got older I realise that it’s very valuable. I embrace my past – it tells me that whatever someone’s story is, it’s beautiful and has the potential to inspire others.”
Creativity through music and writing was a big outlet for Yve. Constant curiosity and a drive to create led him to teach himself the full range of production skills. Music videos for his own songs evolved into opportunities for corporate and social film projects where he grew into creative direction, directing, concept development and more.
“At YVE Ent, we produce audiovisual campaigns for people who look like you and me. That authenticity translates into a raw yet high quality style that our clients like. It comes from being self-taught. All my experience comes from first-hand experience, experimenting and research. It keeps our work real and rooted.”
